Insights

PAC reports solid 3.4% traffic growth in August 2025, with standout domestic growth offsetting weaker international performance.

Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico's August traffic report shows healthy overall growth of 3.4% across its airport network, with total passengers reaching 5.42 million. This performance slightly lags the year-to-date growth of 3.9%, suggesting some seasonal moderation but still maintaining positive momentum.

The data reveals a notable dichotomy between domestic and international markets. Domestic passenger traffic surged by 5.1%, while international traffic grew by only 0.8%, indicating stronger demand in Mexico's internal market compared to cross-border travel. This domestic strength provides resilience against international travel fluctuations.

Among GAP's major airports, Puerto Vallarta emerged as the standout performer with 5.5% growth, followed by Guadalajara at 4.1%. Smaller airports showed remarkable performance, with Mexicali (33.0%), Los Mochis (28.3%), and Morelia (22.2%) all posting double-digit growth. However, Tijuana experienced a 1.6% decrease, with its CBX cross-border facility usage dropping by 7.0%, potentially signaling reduced U.S.-Mexico travel demand.

The load factor decreased marginally from 84.3% to 84.0% despite a 3.6% increase in available seats, indicating that capacity additions slightly outpaced demand growth. This slight efficiency decrease bears watching, but remains within a healthy operating range.

Year-to-date performance shows consistent growth across most airports, with an overall 3.9% increase in total passengers compared to 2024, suggesting that the company's growth trajectory remains intact despite varying performance across locations and market segments.
