Edison International Celebrates Lineworker Scholarship Recipients
Twelve Lineworker Scholars announced on National Lineworker Appreciation Day
“The Edison International Lineworker Scholarship is about opening doors and investing in the next generation of talent, said Steve Powell, president and chief executive officer of SCE. “I am incredibly proud of the work our lineworkers and skilled tradespeople do every day to safely keep the lights on for our customers, while strengthening and modernizing the grid to meet growing demand as we transition to a clean energy future.
The Lineworker Scholarship equips recipients with tuition and tools to obtain a Powerline Mechanic Certificate Program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and the cost to obtain a Class A driver’s license. The scholarship also covers support services as needed, such as housing, transportation and childcare. Successful graduates are then eligible for entry-level, skilled trade positions at SCE after completing the company’s preemployment requirements. All jobs will be located within SCE’s 50,000-square-mile service area.
